17th Annual Durga Puja Celebration in Stamford

The Association of Indians in Connecticut cordially welcome you and your family to join our
17th Annual Durga Puja Celebration in Stamford, Connecticut.

Durga Puja embodies the Bengali love of culture, the triumph of intellectualism over greed, the
disdain for insincerity and the warmth of genuine humanity. These attributes mirror the character
of all our core members and volunteers who have worked relentlessly to organize this year’s
celebration.

To understand the outpouring of support for Durga Puja celebration, we invite you to get a
glimpse of the essence of our Bengali background. In Bengal, a man with a relatively low income
will spend his money on things that matter. Each morning, he will read at least two newspapers
and develop sharply etched views on the state of the world. Each evening there will be fresh
(ideally, fresh water or river) fish on his table. His children will be encouraged to learn to dance or
sing. His family will appreciate the power of poetry and for him, religion and culture will be
inextricably bound together.

As you participate in today’s function, we want to update you on a very exciting  news that this
year we have replaced our Durga Pratima and procured a new image from Kolkata. To this end,
we deeply appreciate a generous contribution from an undisclosed donor and also the assistance
provided by our friends and relatives from Kolkata in transporting the image to the USA.

Please also note that our public support and advertisement income have not improved
sufficiently to allow us to allocate more funding towards cultural entertainment program. Our
other mandatory expenditures such as insurance cost, brochure & mailing, facility rental,
custodian supervision have increased substantially without much of the offsetting income from
our generous public support. We, therefore, request  all of you to be generous in “giving” for this
worthy celebration. We always appreciate your assistance in improving our operating revenue.
We need your help!

We are very committed to encourage all our children to take active role in our puja, because we
believe on the occasion of Durga Puja one can find no better spokesperson for this glorious event
than children themselves.

Please refer to our brochure and/or the Website: www.stamforddurgapuja.com  for additional
information of our activities

We wish you peace and happiness on this auspicious occasion.
